Trusted Celebrants was created to give families and funeral directors greater confidence when choosing a professional funeral celebrant.
Every celebrant listed on Trusted Celebrants is expected to meet our membership standards, which are designed to promote professionalism, reliability and the safeguarding of the families we serve.
What we check
As part of the membership process, celebrants may be asked to provide evidence of:
✓ Identity
We may request appropriate identification to confirm the identity of the celebrant.
✓ DBS check & Safeguarding qualification certificate Level 2
Members are required to hold an appropriate DBS check. We may verify that a DBS check has been completed and record relevant verification information. All member must have passed the Safeguarding Level 2 course and have the pass certificate.
✓ Public Liability Insurance
Members are expected to hold appropriate public liability insurance and may be asked to provide evidence of current cover.
✓ Professional experience
Members may be asked to provide information about their experience as a funeral celebrant, minister or funeral professional.
✓ Professional standards
Members agree to maintain appropriate professional standards and to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on Trusted Celebrants.
Your information is protected
Trusted Celebrants only collects information that is reasonably necessary to administer and maintain the register.
Information relating to DBS checks and criminal convictions is particularly sensitive and is subject to additional data-protection requirements. We will take appropriate steps to keep such information secure and will not publish DBS certificates, criminal record details or other confidential verification information on the public website. (ICO)
Where a celebrant is successfully verified, the public register may display appropriate information such as:

Celebrant’s name

General location or area covered

Professional photograph, where suppliedProfessional experience

Contact details, where the celebrant has agreed to their publication

Confirmation that the required verification has been completed
We will not publicly display DBS certificate information
Verification does not mean endorsement
Trusted Celebrants provides a register of professional celebrants who have agreed to meet our membership requirements.
Verification of a celebrant’s documents does not constitute a guarantee or endorsement of every aspect of that celebrant’s services, nor does it replace a family’s or funeral director’s own enquiries when choosing a celebrant.
Keeping verification information up to date
Members are responsible for informing Trusted Celebrants if their circumstances change, including where their insurance expires, their professional circumstances change or information previously supplied is no longer accurate.
Trusted Celebrants may periodically request updated information to ensure that members continue to meet the requirements of the register.
Where a member no longer meets the required standards, Trusted Celebrants reserves the right to suspend or remove their listing.
